FAQs

Why is the program duration 1 year?
Antarctica only unfreezes during the summertime, allowing for boat travel. For this reason, you’ll be stuck there for the entire year until we can arrange for your transfer out. Please allow 4-8 weeks for transportation to and from your teaching location.

How much English will my penguin students know?
Penguins don’t speak any complex languages, so the chances are highly unlikely that they will have any background in English.

What is the currency? How will I be paid?
There is no currency in Antarctica, so you will have to trade and barter for anything you’d like to acquire.

Will I have a co-teacher?
Nope.

Will there be other foreigners in my placement location?
Nope.

What resources will I have in the classroom?
Resources are scarce in Antarctica, so you’ll need to be prepared to work with nothing.
