    Marketing Content Coordinator

    Greenheart International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to connecting people and planet to create a more peaceful and sustainable global community. We achieve our goals through a unique set of programs and initiatives fostering cultural exchange, eco-fair trade, volunteerism, personal development, and environmentalism. Greenheart encompasses three main branches: Greenheart Exchange, Greenheart Travel, and Greenheart Shop.

    Greenheart Travel is the outbound division of Greenheart, and sends people abroad to study, learn a language, teach English, and become immersed in a new culture. We have programs in 30+ countries for ages 12-70+.

    What we’re looking for:

    Do you love sharing stories about travel? We are looking for someone passionate about sharing the stories and experiences of our Greenheart Travelers by creating content for our brand. The ideal candidate might be someone who has traveled and lived abroad before and wants to highlight and share those types of experiences with others through content like social media, blogging, podcasts, and more.

    Some things you might do as our Marketing Content Coordinator:

    • Manage our social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud (podcast), and others as necessary.
      • Respond to comments and private messages in a timely and professional manner.
      • Post relevant content using our brand guidelines and voice.
    • Manage Greenheart Travel’s Social Media Marketing Calendar
      • Lead monthly content meetings with departments to identify goals and content needs
    • Manage our “travel blog” program to generate unique, evergreen content from both Greenheart Travel staff, participants, and alumni
    • Alongside Associate Marketing Director, create creative marketing campaigns to reach yearly benchmarks of signed up participants, brand awareness, scholarship opportunities, etc.
    • Monitor inventory of promo materials, t-shirts, other swag items, and collateral
    • Manage our yearly scholarship winners, who (as part of their scholarship) must become content creators and submit blog, video, and photo content to us to use on our website and social media.
    • Manage and seek out new relationships and with our alumni worldwide
    • Manage Email Marketing Platform, Get Response, by finalizing email designs, nurturing lists, and sending emails and newsletters.
    • Monitor branding and content quality to maintain consistency in Greenheart Travel messaging across all platforms
    • Create and/or facilitate the revision of design templates, flyers and marketing, and program collateral in accordance with the latest organizational branding and styles
    • Manage the production of long and short-form videos to publish on Greenheart Travel’s website, YouTube channel and social media platforms as needed alongside Greenheart’s videographer
    • Create and manage a strategic plan for infographic development
      • Create content for: placement maps, program overviews, etc
    • Manage and organize our photo library in Flickr
    • Manage website content and visuals, platform updates and blog articles with the team to meet marketing needs
    • Optimize existing blogs and webpages to match SEO best practices

    Some qualifications you should have:

    • Bachelor’s degree (major in Marketing, Communications, etc. preferred but not required)
    • Social media and blogging experience (experience with professional social outreach preferred)
    • Experience with WordPress, Photoshop Suite, iMovie, and similar
    • Experience with creating graphics for social media platforms like Instagram
    • Photography and/or videography experience
    • Experience managing customer service questions and complaints via Facebook messenger and Instagram private messages quickly and efficiently.
    • Email marketing and campaign tracking experience preferred
    • Experience using Salesforce CRM and Get Response, MailChimp, or Constant Contact preferred
    • Dedication to cultural exchange, travel and a passion for learning about other cultures
    • Proactive, diligent, positive & creative self-starter with exceptional ability to learn quickly

  • Internships

    Summer Internship for Teach English & Work Abroad Programs:

    • Type: Unpaid internship, temporary, 12 weeks with possible extension for an additional 10 weeks
    • Hours: 15 hours per week minimum; flexible daily hours available Monday – Friday, 9:00a.m. – 5:30p.m.
    • Location: Greenheart Travel Office, Chicago, IL
    • May – August 2019 (flexible dates)

    The Greenheart Travel Volunteer Intern will assist management and staff with data entry, interviewing candidates, phones, and various other administrative duties. Some of the intern’s duties may include, and are not limited to, the following:

    Program Coordination

    • Assist Program Managers with daily administration of Greenheart Travel Teach & Work Abroad programs
    • Review and process Teach program applications
    • Ensure timely receipt of participant applications and follow up as instructed by Program Managers
    • Assist in creating web content to update existing pages or to create new ones
    • Interview candidates who have submitted applications via Skype
    • Interface with participants when necessary on aspects of program administration
    • Write and update program orientation materials as needed
    • Assist the programs managers with other tasks as assigned


    • Assist with web and blog content
    • Research new and competing Teach Abroad programs
    • Help with creative Marketing ideas to promote programs; using Instagram, Twitter, Facebook

    Sales & Recruitment

    • Work with Program Manager on Salesforce data entry and program management
    • Help the Travel Abroad department meet the goal of outbound participants nationally in the calendar year
    • Respond to e-mail and phone inquiries as needed
    • Assist with lead generation and follow up through the Salesforce CRM system
    • Assist with maintaining program listings with web directories and placing ads
    • Help coordinate travel and study abroad fairs, school presentations, information sessions and other networking events to be determined

    General Office Administration

    • Assist in general office administrative tasks when needed. This includes, but is not limited to, answering the phones, copying, assisting in large mailing projects, etc.
    • Assist with other programs within the Travel Abroad department as needed

    Required Skills:

    Volunteers should be creative, self-directed, and flexible with excellent written and oral communication skills. Outgoing personality and experience with an enthusiasm for international travel. Excellent computer skills with competence in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Photoshop, WordPress a plus; knowledge of social media outlets helpful
