When I think back to my time in France, what stands out the most is how every single day was filled with exciting activities. These were fun events that introduced me to new things and pushed me out of my comfort zone. Through these activities, I learned to embrace new experiences. Thanks to Greenheart, boredom was something that never entered my summer this year!

One of the most thrilling activities I tried was sailing. I had never sailed before, and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the staff made sure I felt supported and safe throughout the entire experience. From the moment we set sail, I felt a rush of excitement, and by the end of the session, I was hooked. If you ever get the chance to try it, I highly recommend it! It was such a unique way to connect with the sea and enjoy the beautiful French coastline. I left with a new skill that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

But sailing wasn’t the only adventure I had. The program was so well-organized that I was able to experience multiple activities, including tours of Saint Malo. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us insight into the history of the walled city of Intra Muros. Walking through those ancient streets, I felt like I had stepped back in time. The history of Saint Malo was fascinating, and the architecture was stunning.

One of my favorite activities was learning how to make traditional French crepes. Our instructor walked us through the process step-by-step, and by the end, I had a newfound appreciation for the artistry behind something as simple as a crepe. Not only was it fun, but it was also delicious!

Another highlight of the trip was the Olympic games organized by the staff. It was a fun and lighthearted way for us to bond with each other, no matter where we came from. We laughed, competed, and cheered each other on, all while learning about teamwork and collaboration. How appropriate for us to be participating in Olympic-style activities, right in France, while the actual Olympics was being held right in Paris at the same time!

Saturdays were reserved for bigger trips, and one of the most memorable was our visit to Saint Mont-Michel. This breathtaking island commune is something I had only seen in photos before, and being there in person was like a dream come true. The architecture, the winding streets, and the panoramic views of the sea were unforgettable.

Looking back, I’m grateful that I was able to participate in such a variety of activities. Whether it was sailing, learning to make crepes, or exploring historical sites, each activity enriched my experience and made my time in France that much more special. I came back with not only improved language skills but also a deeper sense of independence and a broader understanding of the world.

If you ever have the opportunity to embark on a similar journey, I can’t recommend it enough. This experience taught me so much, not just about French culture, but also about myself and the incredible diversity of the world we live in. It’s an experience I will carry with me forever!
