Greenheart Travel Joins IIE to Double Number of Students Studying Abroad

Greenheart Travel is thrilled to join the Institute of International Education (IIE)’s Generation Study Abroad initiative to double the number of American students who study abroad by the end of the decade. Our organization is committed to help reach the initiative’s goal of 600,000 study abroad participants by 2017, and are working to create new study abroad opportunities for students and educators, as well as unique service learning and leadership development programs.

Currently, fewer than 10 percent of all U.S. college students study abroad at some point in their academic career, and an even fewer percentage of U.S. high school students can include study abroad experience on their college applications. By investing in increasing the numbers of Greenheart Travel participants, we are creating more opportunities for global exploration, personal development and broadened perspectives that will ultimately contribute to peace and understanding across countries and cultures.
