At Greenheart Travel’s animal rescue center program in Costa Rica, our volunteers can get up close and personal with a variety of different tropical animals. It is our most popular volunteer program, and for good reason — volunteering with animals is fun and rewarding!
Because you get the chance to hold and socialize with the animals, we always receive great photos from our many volunteers. One of our most viewed blog posts ever was featuring the baby animals in action! For this week’s photo Friday, we’re letting you say hello to all the animals you’ll get to meet at the sanctuary.
Read on to check out photos from our alumni at the volunteer project and learn a few fun facts about these unique creatures!
One of the volunteer tasks is to help feed the injured birds at the project. So, you’ll get to meet a lot more of these guys!
Look at this adorable baby sloth. OK, I guess we’ll have to love this little guy.
Miss Piggy, a baby peccary at the Rescue Center, was a small little thing when she was rescued… but she’s being taken care of and has grown quite a bit.
She loves to run around and is very playful.
There are many beautiful birds like this toucan that you can meet in Costa Rica.
There are adorable howler monkeys like this little guy!
THREE-TOED SLOTHS!!!
There is also an abundance of beautiful birds to fawn over like this dazzling scarlet macaw!
The elusive ocelot is rare to find at the center, and they are a dwarf version of the leopard. They are one of the main predators in this area of the rainforest.
There are even dogs at the center in case you’re missing your favorite pet at home!
Why hello there, rescued baby sloth… Om nom nom, leaf!
This most social of the monkeys in the center, these white faced Capuchins are a crowd favorite.
Their playful nature is sure to make you smile!
