by Hope Pavich, Greenheart Travel High School Abroad Program Manager
Managing the High School Abroad program at Greenheart Travel is an incredible honor. Although it is my “job”, I am acutely aware that for my participants and their families, it is an extremely personal experience I am helping them create. I have been granted the opportunity to share in my participants’ successes and allowed to help them manage their challenges.
In order to be as confident as possible that I and the rest of the Greenheart Travel team are providing the best service possible, we need to have complete trust in our partners abroad. Without this faith in our partners, we could not continue to be one of the leaders of high school cultural exchange. Maintaining strong communication among partners is mostly done through e-mail and phone calls, but occasionally we do get the pleasure of meeting in person.
In March 2012, I had the privilege of traveling to France and Sweden to meet with our French, Italian, Norwegian, and Swedish partners. Prior to our meetings, I was already impressed by how capable they were in managing our participants once they landed in the host country. After we met though, I was also amazed by the zeal they all had for ensuring the success of our participants. It is apparent that creating meaningful cultural exchanges is not a job for them, but a life-long passion.
