Visiting the Waterfalls of Iguazu in Argentina

Last week, the kids in my Argentina high school exchange program and I went to the Waterfalls of Iguazu. There were 12 of us, a coordinator and the people who own the travel company. It is common in Argentina to have a travel company or an agency to help you tour around. Anyway, we spent 6 days in the Iguazu and 2 days were spent in the car.

The waterfalls, to give you some perspective, are 10 times bigger than the Niagara Falls in New York. When we went to the park , for me it was hard to breath. It was a life changing moment in my eyes. I can’t even describe how awesome it felt to be at one of the biggest waterfalls in the world. After watching the waterfalls, we got to go in a boat on the river at the bottom of the waterfall.

We went into one of the smaller waterfalls which is also connected to the eye but in a different place. Keep in mind there are many different waterfalls here. We all got completely soaked. We barely touched the waterfall but still the current was so massive and it was so amazing. The falls gave me a new perspective of how beautiful this world is and how when I grow up I want to work hard to make a lot of money so I can travel the world and have more great experiences like I am now.

My time being in Rosario has been crazy! Everything is going really well, although I’m lacking sleep still (it is part of the culture I realized ) I am having the time of my life. My Spanish is improving by the day. However on the trip we spoke only in English. My host brother and I are reading a book together where one side of the page is Spanish and the other is English. We can help each other with the pronunciation and translate as well.

I am still doing my classes twice a week and one day more with Guido. On top of that I am studying a lot in class or trying to pay real close attention to the teacher and try to translate it. But we start futbol today with the school. Every Friday now they have it organized where you go to another club and you have to show up or you get marked absent. We played for about 2 hours and I am so exhausted from all the running. It was so much fun.

I couldn’t be happier, I mean sometime I miss my family and being able to understand everything but this is part of the grind of being an exchange student. But in perspective, I am loving every second of my new life. I have only 3 months left so I am going to try to make the best of it!
