I neglect to post pictures when I’m at a loss for words because I feel that I can’t do my experience justice; dumb but true. Today I’m feeling so inspired by the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had in Myanmar, which are not only unique to this special country with beautifully friendly souls, history and landscapes, but reminiscent of my time in Asia over the past years. I’m so grateful for this life, this path, and every being I’ve encountered along the way. It’s beautiful to learn from those on all different walks of life, as well as similar ones. My heart is so full. Thank you to all of the Burmese locals and travelers I’ve encountered in the past weeks; I’ve seen the light in you and will carry it with me. ✨🙏🏼✨ . #mingalabar #namaste #burma #myanmar #bagan #sunrise #todayisanewday #pagoda #yoga #meditation #lovingkindness #metta #gratitude #xploreasia #greenhearttravel @studiobarreandlounge

Happy Thadingyut, my #myanmar loves! This is my favorite #holiday here. I especially love the strings of #colorful lights strung up and down nearly every other neighborhood #street throughout the city of #yangon. This framed shot of the #shwedagonpagoda is made even more #magical with zigzagging lights in the foreground. <3 . . . #thadingyut #lightfestival #myanmarholidays #streetscenes #night #nighttime #shwedagon #pagoda #burma #burmese #MyMyanmar #passionpassport #culturetrip #traveldeeper #travelphotography #igmyanmar #TLAsia #yangonoftheday

A #myanmar #buddhist #monk rests on a step while smoking a #cheroot. I met this man at a monastic orphanage outside of #yangon where a group of us English teachers used to volunteer… A simple smile was all it took for me to ask to capture his #portrait. Weeks later I found this same man on the same stoop and I gave him a print of his photo. I will never forget the look on his face when he saw this picture… I wonder how long he's been a monk and I wonder if he's still perching on that same step smoking #cheroots… #burma . . . #myanmarmondays #culturetrip #traveldeeper #travelphotography #travelportraits #buddhism #greenhearttravel #passionpassport #natgeo #natgeotravel #natgeoadventure #igmyanmar #TLAsia

abandoned amusement park vibes . . . . Deserted, decrepit and overgrown, this amusement park was once a glitzy new attraction where civilians could forget about the what the Burmese militia was up to in 1997. The park sits on 10 acres and is home to rusty rides, roller coasters, bumper car courses, and a game center. . . . Today, the rusty metal surrenders to the jungle and is protected by packs of stray dogs. . . . After quite an adventure of even trying to find the camouflaged park, we climbed through a hole in the fence, walked to the top of some coasters and explored the eerie old grounds. (Not pictured- ceramic clown faces, busted coin games, spiderwebs, and the creepy energy of a place that used to be full of life but now sits dormant). 🍭🍿✨🌱🌴🧘🏼‍♀️🎪 . . . . #myanmar #myanmarphotography #travelmyanmar #exploremyanmar #traveltolearn #perspective #practicepositivity #abandonedplaces #yoga #meditation #balancingpose #namaste #☮️ #🕉 #☯️

I left Myanmar exactly a year ago today. Exactly a year ago today I left a place I didn't want to leave, but had to leave, a place I still call home. I left love. I left once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. I left lessons learned, struggles I'd never known before, as well as happiness and freedom I hadn't yet felt. I left a vibrant community of friends from all over the world. I left hundreds of students of all ages and teachers who taught me so much. I left a neighborhood, the kids of Thate Pan Lan, who welcomed me into their lives every single day for nearly three years. I left a country I love like no other country I've been. And I left forever and ever changed by it all. Not a day has gone by without #myanmar on my mind the majority of it. Thank you, Myanmar. Thank you. And thank you, @greenhearttravel for taking me there and getting me here. I'm beyond grateful. #throwback #burma #burmese #shwedagon #shwedagonpagoda #greenhearttravel #yangon #temple #buddhisttemple
